When I interviewed a professor about the presidential election, he said there was something about those four-year cycles that resonated. Maybe it reminded him of college, the full revolution, he thought out loud. I had a habit of listening to hypotheticals, and it created a lot of unusable time on my voice recorder.
This year, I felt four, too.
Not only did I graduate from college and step into my next cycle. I also celebrated four years with a wonderful woman, and we took a big step as well.
These cycles, though, spin you around. It’s great to keep moving, but it can feel disorienting. I’m glad that as life keeps moving, in four quarter time, I have good people around me, to keep step, and help me stand when life’s big merry-go-round is dizzying.
